I don't understand how it works. Can you actually fight it if you get to the core of the problem? I mean, if you know what to work at, there actually is a big chance to cure the spot I think.
Where it comes from, what is the cause and how to control your weaknesses. If you figure it you might find a way to heal the damaged area I believe.
I was often blushing back in school days, not because of awkward moments or because I was ashamed of something (maybe partially, in some moments) but in time I learned how to control it.
I don't have problems in socializing with people, I work in a tourism company and I'm being in a constant contact with clients, consulting them face to face so to say and stuff.
With that I'm saying that you can control your weak spots but it requires comprehension of the problem.
And some "autistics" can learn to cope with and control aspects of their autism, but be aware that autism is a spectrum ranging from Heartless to Rainman.
Plussed you accidentally. Anyway, it's not fully depends on science, what plays big role is your own approaching to the case. Most autistics are awere of their problems, they know that there is actually nothing worthy to justify their fears but it is inherent in their subconscious.I managed to fight my "fear" so I'm not excepting that it's in their strenght to do same.
That's like saying just because you can run 100 meters in 12 seconds, you except anyone with at least one leg to be able to do the same if they've seen someone else do it.
autism is not a defect it is rather a whole different structure of thinking, there is no "cure". however there is medication to cope with the hard antisocial aspects.
autists are so inside themselves they cant function in a society. they simply dont care about outside world. almost every popular decease is working against current society. there are deceases like maybe psychotic that are much more dangerous but if majority of the ruling class have them, it aint going to be as popular as these deceases of the lower class people that government is trying to turn into money making slaves.
Don't generalize. An e-friend of mine who is autistic spent almost all his life on internet, except for school times which he quit recently after tragedy happened in his family. He went even deeper in himself after that, but he didn't go absolutely crazy. Now, that a little time has passed he is still realizing that he has to live, some day he'll have to. He is a nice fella and I had too many fun moments talking to him.
Apparently you missed a part of my post. He has always been autistic but just like us (or at least some part of esr), autistics have changes in mood and in general state.
we have tried to cure it here on esreality, but probation is hardly doing anything anymore + for every probation treatment there are several other mushrooms popping out all the time.
My little brother is autistic. He can mask his weaknesses because he's pretty smart, but they're still there. As far as I understand it, they always will. There is no 'cure.' You can only adapt to it as best you can.
1. Your point, in its long form, does not apply to autism.
2. Your point actually suggests you misinterpreted what constitutes autism. Keep in mind there's a whole spectrum of disorders.
3... No, just the first two, actually.
I remember wathing an awesome minimovie about a kid with autism who collected glasses and played them and was supertalented, just couldn't find it anymore :<
you do not have autism of any kind. it's this age adhd. I don't say its a bogus syndrome, just that WAAAAAAY to many false diagnoses is being made on kids who grew up with video games because of a bad environment, being it in school or at home are getting the asperger diagnosis now.
(Liked the bit when he hit himself then cried more!)
P.S.
They caved in eventually and I got it though. That shit was hard work to get though and to this day, the mega cd and night trap has a special place in my heart.
High and low functionality autism (aspeger syndrom) being in the more functional part of the autism spectra. I've been working within the neuro psychyatri for 7 years and often meet people who have the asperger syndrom, or from the latest DSM-clinical book, autism type IV if im not wrong.
The mind of a person with autism/asperger is usually pretty different, they _might_ be very good at something, music, art, mathematics, memory etc. But they lack extremely much in social adaptation. They mostly have very hard to understand social codes, behavior etc, so they often get misunderstood. They usually always know what their weak spot is, but its not easy to work with. We try to get them to adapt to the social world. Because we cannot change the world, but we can change how the world look at people with this kind of neuropsych diagnoses.
Main part is that most often have other diagnoses, ADD/ADHD/Bipolar/depressions etc. They are not violent in nature.
Theres a lot to read about it, there is also some online diagnose-tests that you can do to see if you even fit the profile. All of us fits the profile in some ways, but most of us does not have a problem with it, we can cope and live with our flaws in a good way. If you have problems with the way you are, and you believe its not positive for you then it might be a problem.
They mostly have very hard to understand social codes
I've read some books on aspergers (though they are probably quite dated) and from what I gather, people with aspergers can understand social codes perfectly, they just can't apply that knowledge for some reason.
not because I think one can cure autism as a specific neurological disorder.
BUT I want to believe that mind and matter are intertwined. In the article (in case you haven't read it) a mental injury/rejection led to isolation. On the neurological side, there is evidence that this corresponds with increase in GABA Neurotransmitter. So you can try tackle the problem by reducing GABA to curb social anxiety (which, in this perspective, is only a reasonable reaction to violent and dangerous surroundings). Unfortunately, this is only a first test of many to come, so you'll need to wait quite some time till such a drug will come about.
I am aware that the matter here is more social anxiety and depression, but viewed from a neurological side. To restate, mind and matter are intertwined, so you can try to (and sometimes have to) exert influence through medication, but that's notwithstanding that you can try through conscious decisions/willpower, too.
I have written about it in another post that links the disorder - now specifically autism - to a maladjustment in perception-filters, like just being so sensitive to everything that reclusion seems the only option if you don't want to get hurt all the time. In reclusion you can acquire all kinds of bad habits, very repetitive ones that are often seen in hard cases of autism, and by being untied with society you forget the social codes that get trained naturally when being with people. (Edit: doesn't come naturally. And you only learn the habits/codes of certain groups/cultures).
Some - like palatka - now will say that the disease can't be treated like this, because it's like being born with just one leg or sth. I know my cousin, and I know when I walked with him when we were young, talking about all kinds of stuff. And I know him now, after he spend most of his life locked away, surrounded by other retards. There is a huge difference. So I will always say one should try, as long as awareness of the problems is awake, to tackle them consciously, trying to become responsible for his/her own fate. It's not always easy, and there are limits to this approach, but you can try.
note: the brain is an organ that's responsive to repetition. the things you repeat most become habits. they literally become carved down in your brain, forming pathways, synaptic connections, gyri and sulci. So when you make a decision to train sth, and repeat it over and over, it gets written down in your brain-structure. It's deciding what to repeat/train most that makes us what we are. But mostly we don't "decide" we only react or follow urges. It's very hard to take control. But I think achieving that control must be something like freedom.
btw, that's part of what fascinates me in quake duel.. that fast decisionmaking. i mean you need to take control of your thinking or you will lose. or ragequit :D
given that well-know Libet-experiment that was said to demolish conscious will (read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Libet) you are way ahead those 3seconds or what it was.. just a thought i had recently.. note that this is only thinking in progress.
19 out of 50. Yes some people are more socially oblivious than others, but most of those aspie diagnoses today are total BS. new adhd fad for introverts.. srsly, it is.
the problem is that answers that point to autism are predictable. And who the fuck wants to find out hes autistic :P
I already threw toothpicks on the ground so it cant be the Russel Crow scenario.
Another thing that's going at the core of the matter: Try not to think about yourself too much. Try thinking about others, get into their perspective, see what you can do for them. This will guard you against most of the antisocial aspects of autism. <3
