It's an Old mouse, reason why all the trolls think it's good is because of some of the pros use it..
The pros have played with the same mouse, Every day for 10 years.
Modern mice are superior in many ways, other than the sensor.

The manufactors of new mice have took the good concepts from ex. The wmo and made adjustments to make a better device for interaction between the human and pcs.

Is there any other small mouse that has completely flat and tall sides? No angle whatsoever and enough room, both unlike the abyssus for example.

Again you are pointing out features that only feels right for you, i would say it's individual.

As nerdy as defending a mouse is, I'll do it.

In a historic point of view, the intellimice are the best, since no other brand have come close to that standards during a very long time. But today there are mice that have the same or better performance or/and shape.

I use a DA 3.5, and not a single day goes by when i do not miss my 3.0 :'(

But the original questions remain the same, which are the main reasons why people don't switch from the WMO in particular: flat tall sides and sexy sensor.

i think the idea is by having a large generic surface area to work with you can grip the mouse however you want to. ergonomics force you to hold a mouse a certain way, meaning there's only going to be one comfortable way to hold the mouse. wmo lets you use fingers claw or palm, and you can vary the position of your grip upwards and downwards since it's so spacious on the sides.

it isn't like pro tennis players are using molded tennis rackets. same for baseball, etc. and these people have way more resources to get personalized shit. no one does cause it pidgeonholes you into one style you may not always find comfortable

I don't use it anymore cause the dpi is too low for comfortable dota. that's my only issue with it along with mousewheel bugs, although my second one never had that issue.

It's good because it's a no bullshit mouse. Sensor, great. Shape, great. Buttons, good - don't throw your mouse around.

I agree cable is horrible. But about buttons, actualy when i change wmo to salmosa and then back to wmo i thought that buttons on wmo is broken because it was really hard to push on it.

WMO is cheap and great in this price. Good sensor, its LIGHT (80g only), buttons are ok, like it , and harder to click it than my DA, shape is very nice. WMO is not even gaming mouse. But a bit "plastic", 400dpi in windows sucks, mouse wheel is bad, mouse feet are plastic which imo is bad. Is not superior mouse or smth.

For new, gaming mouse I will go for Zowie.
But for cheap/good mouse -> WMO

WMO is, despite having great sensor and a shell preferred by a lot of people, still a flimsy pile of junk that has it's certain flaws but still gets the job done. It's still "up there" with the leading mice manufacturers in terms of performance, but it was never praised for it's horrible cable (most people strip it down).

Every time a pro wins something with this mouse, hundreds of nemecel's emerge from the ground and keep asking overly complicated questions about a simple 10$ mouse.

Think of it as an old Toyota - it doesn't look good, it will probably last longer than you expect, but honestly right now you're better off with a newer model UNLESS you really like the shell, are short on cash and just want something to deal with baddies online.

it has no flaws, mine is working since 2008. they are just not sold at the stores

even if i had tons of money expensive mice feel awkward, they are too overthough a mouse should be simple and good sensor (no lag)

There are many reasons why the WMO is a great mouse performance wise.

First, the sensor has true native dpi. This means the sensor is configured at its actual dpi capability without using software and lowering the angles to produce more dpi. Which in turn reduces sensor performance and adds latency.

No mouse today has native dpi. It would literally be impossible for a mouse the size of like the Deathadder to have any native dpi above 1600. A mouse with true 5600 dpi would have to be as big as your desktop chassis.

This means the mouse builders are using interpolated dpi. Leading to latency and bad performance on all dpis not native.

That is why the WMO works so well on all clothpads, and is very reliable. It is built without gimmicks.

The sensor feel is just great in terms of tracking and accuracy. It has no acceleration or prediction.

Clock it to 500hz and it will have a malfunction speed of 1.55. More than enough for any sensitivity lower than 30 cm for 360.

Now to get to the crap stuff.

The cable is indeed an abomination, strip it. The feet are horrible, replace them with some teflon feet.

The buttons are meh.

The shape is great.

500hz polling is stable.

The lift off is good.

If you somehow fixed the cable, feet, it becomes a joy to use.

I dont understand the problem with buttons, the response is perfect for me. I never ever misclick mouse 1/2.

Using g100s now and I think WMO sensor also tracks more precise. Could also be its the difference in dpi, where slower feels smoother.

with the g100s at 500dpi, it's fine imo.

my issue is the slightly higher 'lod' which i'm not used to. (the 'tape trick' does the job but collects dust and eventually needs to be clean or it affects performance.)

better at 1000 dpi with no drivers installed imo. you can also try to download their setpointx630 driver and then u can adjust the dpi any multiplication step of 50 (400,450,500,etc). I still think the g100s feels best with no drivers at 1000 dpi though.

haha yeah I agree with all the comments about not comparing it to modern gaming mice. Basically I was just so surprised by its flaws. Plus I had a couple of glasses of wine and decided to write that =)

Still, I haven't seen a true and honest opinion of this mouse on ESR before, and thought someone had to point out these things.

Steelseries Rival is like a 3.0 without flaws btw.

ì is the coefficient of friction, Fr is resultant force, Ff force of friction, Fn normal force, dv/dt acceleration.

The same, almost twice the force required for the same acceleration. But you also need to stop the mouse when it reaches the target.

From 1 m/s to a standstill in 0.1s, that's the same acceleration only in reverse.
DA: Fr - Ff = 148E-3 * 1/0.1 - Ff = 1.42 N
FK: Fr - Ff = 85E-3 * 1/0.1 - Ff = 0.817 N

Still the exact same factor. You still require almost twice the amount of force from your hand to stop the mouse. That means the extra friction given from a heavy mouse does not help you stop the mouse. Some people think more friction (or weight) gives more control. Simple mathematics is enough to prove them wrong. Lower weight gives you both better glide AND better control. "
