yeah cable dies every 2 months, and mouse is too expensive compared to g400 which is literally the same mouse but much cheaper and better looking :D still its a great mouse! :D
To be honest with you I have previously used a razer abyssus and a roccat kone. The roccat is garbage (too heavy and poor sensor and bad build quality) the abyssus was a great mouse (low weight) with a good sensor (if you could find a non jittering one as mine) but I broke two of them due to poor choice of materials by razer (polystyrene) for the "thing" that presses the left mouse button. Later I switched to the zowie am and i can tell you, that this is the best mouse i have ever used. It feels solid while being lightweight it has a really good shape (matter of personal preference) and the sensor is great. You plug it and it just works (450/1150/2300 dpi and 1000Hz) there is no bullshit software or drivers. 10/10 would buy again, in fact i have bought a spare one already. Also it comes with an extra set of mouse feet because the mouse is expected to last long enough for you to be able to go through multiple sets of mouse feet. Zowie makes proper gaming peripherals, not gaming toys.
g100s. dont like it. thought it will be a nig improvement over the abysus. but weight felt like shit. took it out like winz described, still feels kinda heavy. shape also sux, abysus was lighter and easier to grab. and the 1ms-thing on the clicks on the abysus... lol dunno this g100s actually feels like it has more delay than the abysus.. only good thing is that it's stable, not jittery
if feels heavier. dont care about numbers if the feeling is wrong. maybe it s the shape. anyway hate this fuckin g100s ima sell it and try to get a g9x
I don't know for sure but possibly around 2011-2012 as those were the times people were hunting for them to restock. I really love mine. It's been the best mouse I've tried based on recommendations and I haven't tried that many. It just suited my needs, the 400dpi was perfect for my low sens and I was a CRT user too.
nothing much changed, barely playing QL anymore but still using the Alcor, it's great, works fine, fast clicks, comfy palm grip, and it's affordable... only downside is there wasn't a version with glossy finish which I prefer due to dry hands, so it's harder to hold but I can work around that.
Yeah it's a 3.0 clone. The Alcor is to the 3.0 what the 3.0 is to the deathadder in terms of dimensions. It's significantly lighter as well.
800 dpi ingame, 1000hz. Couldn't get it to fuck up at either 800 or 1600, have no use for anything beyond that. I use 800 ingame because it feels slightly more stable than 1600 - not that 1600 feels bad but it's kinda reminiscent of cranking up the iso on a digital camera -.
i used to play driverless with the kinzu v1 some years ago. 800dpi 500hz sens of about 32cm/360°. Then switched to the abyssus, was hard the first months but once i got used to the 'pure' sensor the abyssus got, i never felt like going back to the kinzu with its massive hardware accel and prediction.
well, in my case, i play a little better without accel.
after switching from kinzu to abyssus i think my lg aim increased a bit at best, or did not change at worst :)
even if you can aim as good with the kinzu as with non-accel mice with 'pure' sensors, there's no point to keep the kinzu considering that it won't be produced anymore and if someday you're forced to change your mouse for any reason, gl at finding a mouse with the same settings than the kinzu.
DeathAdder 2013, don't like it that much but don't care enough to get something else. Gave my g400 to my brother. I still have my mx518, might go back to it one day, or buy a g100s or one of those WMO's on eBay.
What would be the best Zowie mouse for someone with very large hands, claw grip, and used to large mice with a similar shape like mx518, g5, g400, DA..?
Im somewhat intrested in the DA 2k13. I was using the DA Black Edition the past years, now using the Kana v2 with claw grip.
Only reason why i would like to try the DA 2k13 is because its 108g(?) and according to the razer website the Black Edition is like 148g...is the 2k13 like 1:1 shape-wise with the other DA's and yet lighter?
I love it. I just got a good deal, so for less than 20 I can still try the Lua (but honestly the Kana v2 will remain my main mouse because I need the side buttons for other games).
Might be. I had a brand new Kinzu v2 (eh..) AND a Kana v2 for a faulty Kinzu v1 (FUCK DRIVERS GODDAMNIT) in a few days. I only had the mouse serial, nothing more and still I didn't have to send my Kinzu v1 anywhere, I didn't have to pay anything, just Fedex came. After a friendly chat (5 mins after my ticket) with an web operator and 2-3 mails later (they always made first contact), who happened to be a quaker himself.
what is wrong with the sensor? playing with it does feel a bit different than my mx300/500 but i get the same results in enotous and it still feels much more solid than my diamondback @500/1000hz... i was googling about the sensor and the mouse but only found comments and threads by you on this site: ) btw do you still want one? i have two and could give you one if youd like coz i know youre a mouse freak.
I had the first generation DA years back and I found it very hard to lift due to its geometry and slippery (glossy) sides. FK1 on the other hand is very easy to move around. It's a lot smaller than I expected (coming from the MX518 which has about the same measurements on the paper) but I've pretty much adjusted to it already.
Corsair M65. I had enough of my logitech mice having shitty cords so I picked up something entirely different. I really like it but I've never seen anyone else use one haha
couldn't be bothered with my deathadder constantly breaking so I got a kana v2 and I like it, my aim does seem better but that's probably due to a sensitivity change (~70cm/360 to ~45cm/360)
70 cm/360. in quake. strenx plays with 55 or some shit and people just run around him in circles and he can't do anything. how do you think a guy who's probably worse than strenx playing with 70 cm/360 is going to fare? lol.
I think I just move my mouse too fast for the sensor sometimes, because the same thing happened when I was using the FK. Either way, it doesn't bother me enough for me to download additional software and test. It works fine 9/10 games. :)
-ergonomic sweat-resistant and sweat-absorbing coating
-hidden buttons
-all-weather traction pads, require smooth surface for glide
-sound effects when squeezed
-patented FailBite(tm) technology where your mouse bites your hand when used improperly
-short cable, requires extension
-lasts 2-3 years but requires periodic input of organic matter
-leaks fluids when squeezed or periodically during normal use - consult manual
It feels ok on the 4G, but it's not as good as the 3.5G, most recently i removed the leather grip on my 4G Deathadder so im hoping it improves my aim by a little bit.
Using logitech MX-500 shape since MX-510 and am perfectly content. G400s atm, build quality is pretty bad, dpi switch buttons stopped working after 1 month. G400 I had before middle mouse button stopped working after 4 months. Had a MX-518 which worked perfectly for 6 years.
MS 3.0 best mouse ever made though imo. Had it for a year. Since then never reached the level of aim and consistency I had with this one.
Still got stermy's MS 3.0 laying around here, but it's authographed and doesn't have feet. Would've used it otherwise without doubt.
Kana v2, white version.
1600 dpi / 500hz / used with QcK+
I hate the side button placements and would love to remove them altogether if possible (anyone know?)
Aside from that, the shape/weight/sensor/look is flawless.
I also have a DA 2013, G400, Sensei, Kinzu v1, Kuva and a G100s, although none of those get much use. If my Kana broke I'd probably either rebuy it or revert back to using my G400. Both are simply beautiful mice.
i tried ,was to complicated for me. 500 steps then the mouse didnt work at all :P
Good old days was better as usual. Download a .exe ,doubleclick, reboot, done!
Why did you choose Mionix Avior 7000 over Zowie EC1 eVo? I assume you tried them both, and as a long time intellimouse user I would appreciate your opinion. thankyou in advance,
Yes I was a 3.0 user. I didn't in fact try both, I had an FK before which a friend gave me and I didn't like the FK. The lod was the dealbreaker for me at first so I never got a chance to get used to the sensor. With avior the drivers have an option for customizeable lod, plus the sensor is top of the line.
As it happens I now use the lowest lod as over time I just kept decreasing it.
quite a number of new mice here. it used to be all about WMO, MS3.0 and a few Logitech MX5xx mice. i use the Logitech MX300 and I intend to use it till either one of us die.
i wanna see every ESR poster move to the Cooller edition Zowies and stick to them :D
before: steelseries XAI
then: ZOWIE FK
now:steelseries XAI
im a player who needs acceleration. when i started to use the zowie mouse i had to setup accel ingame. with the xai i did/do it via the softwaremenu on a scale from 0-100.
I just couldnt find a proper acceleration in quake, everything felt so unpredictable. The mouse itself was great though.
I´ll try the the ec2 in a few days, maybe the ergonomic shape fits better with ingameacceleration like with the intelli 3.0. never had problems with that mouse back in 2001-2003.
Edit: ah and tbh, the sensor on the xai is not that bad everyone is telling it is. i just disable every "aim more accurate"-tool and the sensor works quite fine.
coating still falling off. lens has minor scratches on it, which i swear make the lift off distance even smaller.
zowie should ditch the current lenses they use and go with one that makes LoD slightly higher than it is now. that, and make the plastic scratch proof :>
One of the things I really love about that mouse is the LOD, I can't stand mice like SteelSeries any longer because you can basically lift it a foot from the mousepad and it will still track.
yeah i used to like it aswell. but any bit of dust makes the lod even worse, and tracking alot worse too. i get why people love it, but for me they could raise it half a cd. just that small tweak that makes it even better so it keeps tracking in rapid sweeps where i tend to lift the mouse a very small bit, and also have less issues with dust :P
MLT04, smaller and lighter than WMO while still ambidextrous, glossy, curved sides where the straight sides of the WMO don't feel comfortable with my fingertip/claw hybrid grip. I just keep going back to it. The feet are tiny though, so I use 2 stripes of teflon type, also increasing friction and decreasing LOD, which I like.
Didn't notice a difference between 6000 and 9000 maximum framerate to be honest. Except that "negative acceleration" kicks in slightly earlier, which is understandable seeing as how the maximum framerate only applies for fast movements, so perfect control speed is somewhat higher with the newer variants.
Tracking is great, I love the coating (after I RMA'd my first one that was flaking off), and the shape is comfortable and doesn't cause any cramping.
However, after several months with this mouse, I still don't feel like it suits my playstyle for Quake. It just feels too heavy and slow.
I have a bunch of mice in a box that I could switch back to (WMO, G100s, Kana V1, Abyssus, ...) but all of them have some some minor flaws as well which makes it not really worth changing.
Tired of my Kana v2. Love the shape and the matt finish. But damn the tape fix just catches onto my mousepad the whole time. Even tried placing mouse feet there, but that did not work either. HTF they can release it in such a way is beyond me. So opinions on the Sensei?
Dunno, I use fingertip/claw grip? Coming from a mx310. So looking for something in similar shape. But I do know I don't want an mx510/180/g400 shaped mouse. But rival or CM mice could be an okay compromise?
some people said to me that the recon has serveral issues. I don't know exactly what issues but...
Did you try the krait 2013 ? It has a shape pretty similar to mx310 with incurved sides like this : )_(
I have one and damn it's a great mouse with a good sensor. Some people said it has smoothing but I don't notice it. It just feels as much responsive as my old abyssus.
Or maybe abyssus 2014 edition ?
I personally went from abyssus to AM to FK to krait 2K13 to DeathAdder 2013 and finally to abyssus 2014. The shape isn't an issue to me (but mouse is too big) and i use fingertip grip. Dunno for claw grip tho, seems a bit big for it but like i said i dunno, you have to try it yourself.
The steelseries rival and cooler master storm alcor got similar shape than DA 2K13 btw.
Damn, the abysuss has a very similar profile to the mx310 it seems. And cheap too. Only downside is lack of side buttons, but that's okay. How is the liftoff distance? I assume it has the same sensor as the DA13?
It has the same sensor as the old abyssus ;), avago s3888 or something like that. And it's a good sensor. Same sensor than the one in the DeathAdder 3.5G. No anglesnapping, no accel, no prediction and all these crap.
However, lift off distance is quite high compared to a zowie mouse, but i personally get used to it pretty fast. Shouldn't be worst than the kana v2 tho.
But yeah, in your case, as you seem to prefer low lod, then it could be an issue. But the best way to know is to try it yourself ;).
Okay last one before I give up. The Taipan? See it has laser sensor that can be adjusted. I am a very high sens player so I don't think tracking will be too much of an issue.
Taipan isn't a bad mouse, but still i wouldn't recommend it. If you want to go for the taipan, then rather buy the sensei.
I'm sry but i don't know how is the lod of the taipan, so can't help you there :(.
Laser sensors nowadays don't have the "skipping/stop tracking" issue when you move the mouse fast, but it's still laser, which means overall less good than optical, for serveral reasons. And if you come from a kana v2 sensor, then it's definitely not improvment, rather the opposite.
* poor flaky coating (just like the cooller versions)
* prone to skipping due to a tiny bit of dust (doesn't happen 24/7 though, more of a minor downside)
really a shame how the abyssus 2014 started out. Im still happy with my Kana v2, other mice id probably try would be the DA 2013. G100...dunno, heard good stuff, but too much bad stuff as well.
yeah, thats really dumb, i never understood that. Didnt look like much of a gamble 10 years ago, but now you either buy a piece of gold, or a piece of shit you throw away before you even finish your first game with it...pretty stupid :D.
Ordered another abyssus. The g100s is a better mouse objectively, but it's simply not broad enough for my hand. Got troubles doing small adjustments and caught myself relying more and more on strafe aiming, which is not a good thing.
Sorry, getting the old one again. Perfect shape for me and you can pick it up for less than 30 euro on amazon. But I think winz is/was using it, so maybe ask him.
razer deathadder, bought in 2009 or 2010. been thinking about replacing it. i like the shape of the taipan but haven't read too many good things about it yet.

Thanks! Just plugged it in, got it set to 1000hz with a sens of about 30cm/360 and it's at the highest dpi setting.. 2100? I'm playing on a really high res (new monitor) but might change that if there's a problem...
There is a couple of things that makes this shape great. Your thumb and pinky can grip the side of the mouse without it having to drag on the mousemat as its basically a U shape grooves. But you can place it lower down and drag it if you are so inclined, but there is not much difference in control.
It can be slightly slippery when you sweat a lot, but I find it to feel better and obviously clean a lot easier than those with rubber sides. (I can't stand a dirty keyboard or mice).
Its also slightly wider than the Kana, and its profile feels much higher due to it having a high ass where other mice highest point is somewhere in the middle. So it feels much more comfortable imo and gives your hand much better support in a either palm or claw grip. I found the Kana much too narrow because it did not give my hand any support in claw grip even though its theoretically just a few mm narrower if this makes sense.
Now I use WMO 1.1a (i hate the bad sroll), but i have DA 3G (too big, for me) and Sensei RAW (accel problems, buit its perfect shape for me like WMO...) so i can't choose which i want...
