The Thunderdome 1v1 QW tournament comes to an end with the Grand Finals being played today between QW legends Locktar, the fastest man on earth and Prof. BRZZZZ, the one and only Bulat!
I experienced with 1080p60fps this cast with a bitrate of 3500. Now, 3500 is very very high and Twitch personally says that any higher is abuse of their bandwidth. The reason things look grainy is because QuakeWorld is so damn fast. No idea how to get around that, though.
3500 bitrate is used which is pretty much max allowed by Twitch. The many details and the extreme pace of the game causes 3500 bitrate to almost be too low.
I will consider using 720p instead, but there's always someone who wants to see 1080p60fps. But I guess 720p60fps works as well.
Well, 3500 is their 'suggested' maximum, you can use more if you want, it's not really punishable and they gonna officially raise it soon as they finish the migration from flash to html5 anyway(i.e. it's already smth like 6800 for 1080p60 on youtube)
But honestly for QW's fast pace and your low picmip 720p60 is more than enough, or might also try smth inbetween like 900p60
1080p only makes sense for games where there's a lot of small details/text on the screen like MOBAs or RTS tbh
Yeah... I'm just afraid that people won't be able to watch on Source if I raise the bitrate too much. I know especially americans tend to have quite bad connections... Oh well.
Thank you for the great event and the streams. Entertaining games with good casts, it was pleasant to watch. Congrats to the players and winners, the real Quake still delivers.
Thanks!
Youtube is a lot better than Twich for watching (maybe not for streaming?). And, thanks for stripping out the long pre game wait in the YT VOD.
What I would love to see in VOD of matches like this is the addition of game sound as a separate sound track. Don't know if YouTube will let you have multiple sound tracks? (Best guess says yes).
PS:
Stil, the fastest way to 4K content are demos ;-P
Basically jumped out of my seat during the dm4 and dm6 games. Next time I'm in Europe I'd love to try playing some QW, no matter how badly I get thrashed.
