Also yesterday in the pre-keynote speech address by Id/Raven, Tim Willits confirmed that the Activision (Visioneers) Testers had been used for Quake 4 testing. This was in response to a question of the possibility of a Q4Test, and shows the different approach by Id/Raven this time around
n addition to the new multiplayer maps, id and Raven have also hinted there should be some remakes of a few classic Quake maps in Quake 4. Among them is Q3tourney6, which was the final boss map from Quake 3; it appears some extra platforms are being added to make things a little more interesting. A remake of Q3DM17 - "The Longest Yard" - may find its way into Quake 4, and there's the possibility that "The Edge" (from Quake 2) could get the upgrade treatment as well. (Raven is quick to point out that none of this is finalized, however, so don't hold them to this.)
What we`re looking at right now for launch are: Eight or nine Deathmatch maps, roughly five Capture the Flag maps where one side is Strogg and one is Marine (the difference between the two teams is strictly superficial; both sides draw from all the same weapons -- rather than simply having red versus blue marines, Raven wanted to add a little variety), one Tournament map, and Arena CTF, which, Law says, "has the classic class-based action" but wasn't ready for prime-time to show at Quakecon.
