IEM5 Gamescom Last 2 players and Maplist (40 comments)
Posted by xou @ 03:17 CDT, 13 August 2010 - iMsg
The ESL announced yesterday the two last participants for the IEM5 Global Challenge Gamescom after the online qualifier took place: Poland bodzo and Spain Sl1p. The french player winz who made it to the top2 declined his slot.

Also, the Quakelive maplist for the competition is now finally known and will be as same as the on-going QuakeCon 2010: Aerowalk, Battleforged, Blood Run, Furious Heights and Lost World.

Don't forget you can still win 1 out of 5 ESL TV Premium keys to watch the games. On that topic, the main ESL TV stream schedule was already released. There should be an additional stream running during the event which would cover the ENC QL Final.

Update: GaRpY and GUard are failing, matr0x and his brother STING will replace them at Gamescom.
Update 2: mAdix won't attend and proZaC will replace him!

Gamescom Groups & 5 ESL TV keys to win (130 comments)
Posted by xou @ 14:30 CDT, 11 August 2010 - iMsg
The Quakelive and Starcraft 2 groups of the IEM5 Global Challenge Gamescom has just been announced today. Both disciplines will feature 16 players divided in 4 groups of 4.

Also the ESL is offering a few ESL TV Premium keys for community websites such as ours and 5 ESR users will be able to win one of these. We won't run any trivia or raffle, but instead we will hand the codes to the 5 people who will get the most [+] with a single comment in this post.

Captioned pictures, captions from our galleries (post the link), wall papers or even pictures of the ESR logo in some interesting places, are all welcome as long as the main theme remains competitive gaming (Quakelive or even SC2 if you dare). The main rule is to be CREATIVE, because reposts are boring.

The deadline is set for Friday midnight (CEST)! The keys will be given as soon as I sober up on Saturday.

Update: Since the thread wasn't really popular, we'll award 1 user from this post (gratz .syL) and 4 from the "a lot more active" QuakeCon 2010 post!

Update 2: The 4 other winners are Trance, p4r4, ZeritoN and donka!

Quakelive maps names & levelshot (110 comments)
Posted by xou @ 02:18 CDT, 8 August 2010 - iMsg
So Quakelive is out of beta, and now the filenames of the maps are made from the actual name of the map instead of an incremental system. This means names such as dm6, t4, ztn or hub won't be of any help when it comes to vote a map on a server.

After 10 years of using the same old names for each map, it's hard to adapt and so I decided to make a listing of the Quakelive maps with their levelshot. That should make things a bit easier. You can find a ZIP file with all the images attached.

I guess I won't be able to reach all the people who would like to stream the Quakelive ESWC matches. So I'm leaving a message on ESR as well.

If you wish to stream the Quakelive ESWC matches (played on private internet servers), I was told you should contact Stιphane Cosse about it: stephane[a}eswc{.]com

Don't forget to make a proper and clean email, and make sure you clearly present yourself. That should help.

If you feel like the last fatal1ty frag movie contest let you down, there might be another chance for you to win something out of a frag movie. The news is not exactly fresh, but nobody cared enough to post it on ESR already. Here is the thing: ESWC and Allo cinι (French website) are organizing a "Frag movie Festival". In clear terms that's a frag movie making contest, and that one is to be rewarded with $5,000 for the winner.
"You can submit your link by June 10th at contact@eswc.com. Then the ESWC organizing committee and Allo cine will choose the 10 best Frag Movies.
Everybody can vote for the best frag movie from June 11th to June 30th through the eswc.com or allocine.com, the winner will be known on July 4th at the World Game Show and will get back home with the $ 5,000 reward."
