The old bf was crap.
Know with only one ya, the teleporter adjustment, rampjump or whatever it is called :x and the open area at ra this map is fucking great.
Esl/Quakecon fucked up because you can't add a fresh map into the map pool without testing it on a proper level.

new bf is really nice even tho i still think tele exit should still be at rail . All the other changes made more than enough to make it less defensive . I might be wrong tho and with some play test it might just end up being awesome .
Apart from that , 7 maps mappool is total crap and we should start to remove some old classic to make a fresh 5 maps mappool. I find dm13 is getting pretty boring tbh .

The maplayout is great and really refreshing, the changes make it even better.
However the sounds are still horrible and totally offsetting. If you stand at the ya you hear your oponent coming from fucking everywhere regardless of where he is on the map -_-

I used to feel the same way about t9, but I played it quite a bit over the last month and was floored at how much fun it was to play. Still boring to spectate though.

I suggested that a long time ago. Before you add new maps into a tournament map pool test it in cups for a few weeks.

I believe that t4 provided awesome matches in the past, but nowadays it's just stale.

I feel the same way about dismem as I felt about Battleforged (too slow at the start, but got way better once plaers learned how to play it); kick t4 or Hektik (1 fast map is enough and Hub is waay better) off!

the biggest problem of the new maps is that they are very basic in structure

i mean they are all dm6ish-> running from one item to another, frag here, frag there

t7, dismembretfgcvxzdfwhatever, bf are all very primitive and similar to dm6 which we dont like cos its dumb

ztn, dm13 and aerowalk are much more than just running from ra to mh and mappers should take this into consideration when making new maps

t4 and t9 are much much better maps too and they bring something new to the show

since everything else we got now is trash the mappol should stay like this: ztn, dm13, aero, t4, t9 untill mappers give us something better which wont happen soon if they dont understand what makes a good map

both of them should be far away from any mappools, they're old, "basic in structure", and unbalanced

I agree, it should be brought back. Sure it may not be as well known, but it has a high amount of potential and matches such as rapha vs. k1llsen prove it. It`s design is cleverly planned - the see-through portals make it riskier to go for the mega, but balances it out through being able to rocket jump out of the pit in case of emergency. Taking out the bars was something I objected to at first, but I got used to it.

The only change I did not like was the RA being moved. tbh I felt it was more dangerous in it`s original location; backed up against a wall where it`s far easier to be taken down from rocket splash fire, etc.

It really amazes me how they chose to replace this excellent map with Dismemberment. Don`t get me wrong, cpm12 is cool, but it just doesn`t work out all that well for duel. It only has two stories which makes it less dynamic than Battleforged. It`s also somewhat large and it`s really more of a 2v2 TDM map than anything else.

I don't like the spawns at all. I played a few games on it and whenever I died stupidly (he got a clean frag) I was fucked for the rest of the game because I didn't knew what to do. Especially when the items weren't synced. He just ran the items and I stood there at rail and was like Q.Q.
Spawnkills are way too easy on bf and really punishing because it is hard to kill someone in control. (sound+spam/rail=gg no re)
(some dm13 spawns are ridiculous too :P)

Dismemberment has always felt like half a map to me; just feels too simple/incomplete.

After one tourney or two its been all but played out; you just see the very same situations over and over gain; t9 at the very least took a good while before players really started playing it well (around IEM dubai iirc; some great t9 games there)

Personally I would remove hektik and dismemberment, and replace them with battleforged and one of bst's maps, which I think is really nice :-)

Does anyone agree that Battleforged was totally ruined by the update? At it's old state people actually used to play it because it was a well-balanced map (+ a really good one). I just wish they'd restore it back to the original state. ;__;

RA is too easily accessible and mapcontrol is alot easier to keep when there aren't 2 YAs to take care of anymore. I imagine any pro player would agree that it got worse (or then maybe it's just me). Statistically speaking I believe it's reputation dropped dramatically after the updates.

ra being more open means that it can be pressured/attacked more easily, giving more opportunity to attack, to get back control (isnt that what you want)
the yellow -> green doesnt matter that much as you also got shards. but more importantly is that the teleporter exit from the tele near the removed yellow now opens up to the red, so overall this is not a making it easier to control....
imho the update makes the map a bit faster and more open to interesting fights

not too sure about the pro players opinion but i dont think that they prefer the old version. dahang wrote quite a bit about battleforged, would like to hear what he thinks about the new bf. (or k1llsen/rapha for that matter cause they seemed to know the map the best)

I designed a smaller version, I don't know how it would play but I think I'd prefer it, just because its smaller. I feel that battleforged has some baggage that isn't really needed, and makes it a slow map. Maybe thats how its supposed to be, but I don't really like big duel maps, but I do like the look and general layout of battleforged. So I couldn't resist :) Its just a bit of fun, but thought someone might like to see it.

I don't agree with you on this point. The "new" BF can be played really fast, it's possible to take all the items on the map.
ofc you can play a +back game there, but not that much imo.

i find it very hard to judge how your version would play out just based on these overview screens.
but some general things: i dont feel like its a big map, and its not any slower than ztn/dm6. so i do not agree on your reason to change things to start with ;)

for example in the lower right corner of the map:
maybe it seems a bit slow or useless before but its far from it. it offered great fights, you could set traps at the tele exit and at the jumppad, there are some nice rail angles towards yellow and i like the second rl on the other side of the map. and doing a rj right when you come out of the mh tele is a possibility to cut a lot of time/space to get into a surprising position and attack mid/ra

also i dont replacing the ya+ga with 3x ga, but maybe thats just a personal thing cause i like when items are something to fight for or steal.

that being said i would still find it interesting to try out your version, cause just because i dont agree that those things on bf needed to be changed, doesnt mean that your version does not work well

Yeah I haven't really played much of the new bf, and only a bit more of the old bf, but just from what I have played, thats just how it felt (big). But then the game I played most duel in is Q4, which had mostly tiny maps like placebo effect, phrantic, monsoon, galang, etc.

It sounds cool though that you can scale the map down with a few moves.

The idea of 3xGA was just because it doesn't exist on any ql maps atm. The idea of the small version was its more based on traps and positioning than timing of items (can't say for sure if thats how it would play, though).

The other items I didn't bother to fill in because I couldn't be arsed, I cared more about the structure :D

You can still do the traps at the bottom right room, but when you tele in you can decide easier which way you want to go to RA and you don't have to use a RJ or jump pad (but its confusing because that area I made to fit in with the smaller design, so its not meant to be an improvement for the current map).

I suppose you could say its like a turbo version of bf, (or crazy version). Kind of like what aerowalk is to dismemberment maybe? I dunno :p

I'd really like to try it, but its id's map and I don't think I could just post a modified version of it here if I did make it. But I still might make it and just not post it :>
