I read forum and see happy people, but why they so happy? i think they happy because of PQL added. I do a conclusion that they wanna play PQL instead of CPMA.
that's definitely a wrong conclusion. it is QL players commenting, not CPMA players. I know, because I know all 12 CPMA players by their nick. so, they want to play PQL instead of, or in addition to, QL.
There are 141 people listed as participants of the World Tour in 2005. That's only the players who actually participated in the tournaments, I'm sure there were quite some more who hadn't the time/money to participate so the total ammount of PK players must have been way higher back then. After the World Tour the playerbase steadily declined, but still when a good planed and well organized cup comes along (like the Oxid Painkiller Duel Cup) we still get around 16 players (there was a cup like 1 year ago where there were over 30 sign ups). So I don't get your point. People still play the game and have fun doing so, same goes for CPMA community, altough it isn't big either.

Movement is different.
Armors seem to be quite simmilar.
Weaponswitch is the same, but some weapons feel too slow (pg gl).
Maps are shit and not suited for pql (cpm) gameplay (except for toxicity and areowalk).
But the most important think you don't know is: I'm not a part of the cpma-community, I played it back in 2010 for some moths, then stopped because there was nearly 0 activity in cpma. Now I only play some ca and duel from time to time with some friends.
i see more and more ppl on #cpmpickup came from ql cause they kinda like that movement but they know it suck, so they need a proper game not like ql. thats why they move from QL to CPM(A)
There is development going on again after a long break. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the website, I should hopefully be able to get a replacement site up after Christmas.
cpm players can feel even more elite now as they play the 'real shit' (compared to osp and now pql). Meanwhile people that don't have their head stuck into their own ass have a lot of fun with pql. Everyone happy.
No people dont want to switch because QL lacks many feature CPMA & OSP had years ago, the movement is a bad version of cpm because they guys doing QL cant work it out(they added double jumps on the test servers that made it possible to hit the roof on maps so didnt add it in the end) They dont want to use cpm code cos arQ wasnt around and wanted to do it themselfs....
It is called PQL, not QLCPM. I don't know why some people expect a 1:1 copy of cpm. It needs some fixes but remind yourself that this is the very first (public) version of PQL. What you already get is that fast, instinct-based gameplay which puts you in the zone while playing - that's whats cpm is about (at least for me). Bugs can be fixed, features can be added.

theres been what one whole game of pqlctf in the pickup channel since the update? cpm players arent interested in pub ql ca. at least not all the time. the awesome thing is now that i have the option i dont even feel like play vanilla ql ctf lols. i think ill just play ql 1v1 from time to time and stick to cpm and qw for ctf/tdm.
Every real CPM player won't switch to PQL just because it's based on QL and you have to pay for it. Why would they switch if they have a more complete version of the game and they don't even have to pay for it? Only because Vo0 played some pql this doesn't mean that ALL CPMA players switched to QL with PQL.
are you not able to understand what people are telling you? you have a lot of the same answers, but it looks like you don't like the answers, so you are pretending you have no answers.
doublejumps and stairs are fucked
seem to get less initial acceleration
can jump over items (so flow is totally fucked)
have to run it in a browser
no maps
sounds are shit
have to pay or something
etc
Well i'm a hardcore cpmer and the reason why i don't play PQL (yet) is because i'd first like to see those little annoyances (as mentioned above) fixed before i pay for it. Also, this whole 'i-cant-get-a-match-in-cpm' thing is kinda exaggerated... i am able to play pretty much everyday, you just gotta join a server and *maybe* wait 5 minutes, so what? When those annoyances are fixed and PQL is being played on a regular basis i will most definitly get a premium/pro and start playing.
you just gotta join a server and *maybe* wait 5 minutes till someone with several years of experience comes around and wipes the floor with your ass, so what.
Exactly the same with VQ3/QL actually, experienced players will always wipe the floor with newbies, thats the way of Quake. It always was like that and will always be like that, unless you go play Call of Duty ofcourse, where 8 year olds can kill you 'NOSCOPE OMGOMG'. I remember getting my own ass beat when i first started CPM, it only motivated me more to become good and now it's me doing the spanking, and that is what CPM gives back to you in the end!
No it's not the same because in ql there are many active players around 1100-1200 elo. They prolly still rape the newbies but with a bit practice they'll be able to close the gap pretty quick whereas in cpm it prolly takes you at least 6 months to actually have a roughly even game.
Most of the players don't play the game to become the next cypher but rather have some fun. Getting raped for months is not really fun if you ask me. It's true that you value duel more the better you get because you'll start to understand it in all is facets but you can still enjoy it as a beginner vs an equal opponent.
CPM was definitely more fun then VQ3 but the lack of players was depressing for a casual gamer. It's nice to load up QL and see loads of games going on and know that you can just join and play and not need to wait. With this said I haven't played PQL yet but if it's close to CPM i hope it gets popular! :o
I don't take CPM seriously like most people who compare their "sizes", so I like PQL. I just get used to the differences and I enjoy it. There are enough maps on QL that go well with PQL and some that play even better with it on like Palace, etc.
I think we should all try to be more like Tritin, DocPossible, etc. because they have very optimistic, upbeat attitudes and don't act like competitive jerks, etc. and they are the perfect example of how the Quake community should be. Sadly the situation will not be ameliorated for a while, if at all.

If only the whiny, immature elitists could be like these guys. I'm not insulted by anyone's attitude or comments - but the game would be less depressing with a more uplifted spirit, and less hate against casual players - who aren't necessarily associated with COD like most people think.
IMHO, CPMA is a hypocritical joke. They pose themselves as some sort of "true" hardcore quakers, yet basically no one of them dares to play the one and only REAL hardcore Quake mode - the deathmatch.
So obviously, people first are caught by all the hype produced by promoders, then find out that they are actually not hardcore gamers, but just a bunch of elitist insecure pussies, and move on to the game where at least you can fight like a true man in a death match with other true, and not gay, men.
Yes.
If you apply pretty much the same reasons why you say QL is shit compared to CPMA, then the only conclusion will be that all other modes are shit compared to FFA.
1) maps are shit
2) projectiles are shit
3) community is shit
4) rampjumps are shit
5) doublejumps are bullshit
6) having to pay 50$ annually for shit is shit
the hacked version of QL will have 100x (at least) as many players as cpm ^^
Izi has a valid point btw. If the cpm community and devs really tried to find a honest answer on this, their playerbase wouldn't be that small imo.
Well it would be the most convenient way to keep playing for most quake live players (unless there is quake5 or similar ofc). Most convenient = most ql players (who don't want to quit quake) would take that way and the community could be kept together, more or less. Stuff like edawn is still a pain in the ass to set up and entering the cpm community as a new player doesn't sound like fun either.

It's not really a browser game anymore but it is very easy to install and you can keep your cfg+hud+demos etc and wont have to get adjusted to a different game.
As long as id keeps their servers online I'll stay with the official version though. Freedom in most times comes together with chaos and I'm not really looking forward to a quake live where every server has different settings.
But maybe I get proven wrong and at that time the cpm community offers a stand-alone game (PMX or whatever) and became more open minded towards new players.
