It's amazing how much the game has changed and improved. At one point Cooller had 1 hp, he had in-front of him 4 x 25hp bubbles and a YA. Along with what appears to be an infinite amount of 50hp bubbles dotted around the map.
Weapons appear to dish out noticeably more damage than QL, combined with too much HP and armor available on the map this inevitably led to that +back style of play. Also the movement looks worse. Perhaps it's because of the FOV that's used but it looks all clunky and awkward.
Quakelive is way more fluid and pleasing on the eye to spectate than Q3 and I imagine a more pleasurable experience as a player.
You can't deny the game evolved, that's true. But I don't agree on other parts.
That particular map (dm13) leads to +b play, be it osp/cpma or ql.
Regarding movement - you are wrong. Two days ago I decided to play OSP 1.03a (after somewhat 6-7 years break). The movement feels amazing, even smoother than QL I'd say (and thats on 50 ping server, which is like 75-90 in QL). All that sliding while strafe jumping through wall corners, rocket jumps, it feels good. Even b2r on dm6 is quite easy to do, not as I remembered it :D
Simple, it just double standards from the cooller fanboys they love to preach how QL is +back, boring, etc. yet they're afraid to look themselves in the mirror and admit that cooller was always been a defensive player. BOOM!
Men lie, women lie, numbers don't lie!
The fact that cooller has always been the "king of silver" will always remain.
ql is short for qller? well, both cooller and ql are +b, as is 95% of fps games. not dying is more rewarded than fragging in most cases (modes, maps, games). thus ballless players play it 'smart', kudos to them.
Firstly Z4muz is a freak talent player, cooller a wiley, extremely driven competitor who knows he can't go toe-to-toe with Z4muz's aim. So instead cooller goes pac-man and hopes for a break.
And true champions generate their own luck: As xoji pointed out, cooller escaped a mg battle with 1hp(rarest kind of luck, considering mg spread/dmg) and cooller just consistently stuck to the battle plan -- hope to find Z4muz with his head turned, et viola. (Oh and those three grenades hitting really helped Cooller win one battle). Notice too how diligent Cooller kept returning to teleport spawn, pilling and rocketing it many, many times during the match to no effect. Consistency wins.
Nothing +back about this. This is strategic genius; know your enemy better than he knows you.
p.s. damn just realized this is YOUR thread Storm. lol well im just one opinion out of many.
