Finding the best CSGO gambling sites in 2019 is not that easy. CSGO gambling has had a chequered past to say the least, with many sites being shut down and penalised because of illegal activity.

There is clearly a demand among some Counter-Strike lovers to bet on their favourite game but for the sector to be sustainable long-term, CSGO gambling sites must comply with the laws - primarily for the safety and security of esports fans but also for the sake of themselves.

Valve lights it up for CS:GO (56 comments)
Posted by viaIImaximus @ 15:37 CST, 24 February 2016 - iMsg
On the official Counter-strike: Global Offensive blog, Valve has released an announcement. All Majors, as in tournaments, have had the prize pool of $250,000 which has never been exceeded by any tournament until now. Starting with the upcoming MLG Columbus 2016, which takes place March 29 through April 3, all future CS:GO majors will have a prize pool of $1 million!

With this kind of financial support that Valve is putting into CS:GO, they hope to bring in even more players and viewers. According to Valve, CS:GO was the second-most watched game on Twitch in 2015, League of Legends being the first, of course.

On a side note, Valve has released another update for CS:GO fixing some current bugs. You can check the release notes.

Quakecon 2016 will consist of a Quakeworld 2v2 TDM as well as a Quakelive Duel Masters tournament!

From Quakecon blog:

QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM OPEN:

The QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM Open will feature a competition for up to thirty-two (32) two-player teams battling it out in a double elimination bracket and best-of-three games format. Teams who come out on top will share prizes of $25,000, including $12,000 for the team of champions.

To register for the QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM Open, interested competitors can visit the QuakeCon tournament area on-site in the Wedgwood Foyer from 10:00am to 6:00pm CDT on Thursday August 4th for participation availability.

QUAKE LIVE DUEL MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

Our last QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship was in 2014, and since then we’ve upped the ante a little bit. The QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship will once again feature known professionals and top QUAKE LIVE competitors in an exclusive tournament. Up to thirty-two (32) of the world’s best QUAKE LIVE players, hand selected by veteran tournament staff from the open online registration, will face-off in the 1 vs. 1 duel for $25,000 in a double elimination bracket, with each match played in a best-of-five-games format. In the end two competitors will remain and thousands will gather to watch as these two best-of-the-best survivors go head-to-head in a single elimination, best-of-five-games throw-down with a $12,000 check written to the champion.

Headshot: Casual browser shooter! (111 comments)
Posted by mikolah @ 12:10 CST, 23 February 2016 - iMsg
Many of you have seen 8PLAY tag in the name of one of the best QL players - Russia Evil. For some of you it would be interesting to know the story behind it. One of the famous old school quaker China Jibo has founded in Russia his own game publishing company named INFIPLAY. Recently with both Russia Cooller and Russia Mikes (producer for EU and RU versions) he released their first game with localization for European auditory - Headshot. It is a casual online-shooter in browser, inspired by classical era FPS games like Counter-strike and Crossfire. Best thing about the game is that to play you don't have to download any kind of plug-in. Just create an account and start playing, give it a try and say your thoughts.

DOOM multiplayer update (69 comments)
Posted by viaIImaximus @ 15:04 CST, 22 February 2016 - iMsg
Bethesda.net just released a new short article about DOOM's multiplayer. What is presented in this article are two things, a new mode and new items. Warpath being the new mode in DOOM multiplayer features a "king of the hill" type of mode with the difference in capture-points being in circular motion. To quote this rather complicated explanation:
Meanwhile, a game-changing demon rune moves in lockstep on the opposite side of the path. Players have to decide where they want to be: rushing toward the power-up to turn into a Marine-destroying Demon; clustered around the capture point to defend or steal control; or simply roaming around looking to pick off any errant foes.
There's a gif in the article showing brief in-game action.

The second new feature named Hack Modules represents single-use disposable items. Apparently, these items will be available to you through game's progression system (XP points?). What makes these items a bit different than to what we are usually used to, are their properties. One being a Supply Timer which displays respawn timers on pickups and this is 'awesome' because and I quote:
So when you’re running through the world, you might see that an armor piece is coming back in 10 seconds and you could decide to hang back and take it.
Other Hack Modules include Retribution, Scout, Vital and Power Seeker check the article for more detailed explanation about each one of them.

How these will function and affect the game we will just have to wait and see. The item idea is not bad at all but I would rather see it in some sort of a tutorial or training about duels or TDM. That would give the new players who are entering the FPS arena games for the first time, some insight on how timing and opponent positioning works.

Quake games at #DICE2016 by FACEIT (38 comments)
Posted by viaIImaximus @ 06:19 CST, 19 February 2016 - iMsg
With this year's D.I.C.E. Summit 2016 ending (Feb 16-18) we are starting to get some interesting tweets from its participants. One of those participants being Alessandro "stermy" Avallone as the co-founder of FACEIT who made several tweets featuring Quake games at their FACEIT booth.

Apparently even a competition was held with Sean Dunn (General Manager at Big Huge Games) winning the FACEIT D.I.C.E. 2016 Quake Championship!
You can find a short video of the competition and FACEIT booth pictures on Twitter stermy's twitter!

On a side note this year's AIAS awards went to Fallout 4 for Outstanding Game Direction and Game of the Year!

EDIT: Did some digging around and came across this. Definitely there was a small tournament, and judging by the names these are mostly devs.

Season 21 of EQL has gone live (12 comments)
Posted by Åke Vader @ 04:37 CST, 19 February 2016 - iMsg
A heads up for all the QuakeWorld lovers out there regarding the fact that the 21st edition of the European Quake League is under way. This season features, after a couple additional teams were added after signup deadline, two divisions with nine teams in each. Interesting changes to the league this season can be found in the map rules section where we have the traditional maps DM2, DM3 and E1M2 supplemented by the custom maps CMT1B, CMT3 and CMT4.

Regarding the teams they remain similar to last season in division 1 with the exception of Keystompers which consists of familiar faces making a comeback on the 4on4 scene; Sweden Xerial, Sweden Javve, Sweden Dimman, Sweden Messi/ET and Sweden Dahmer among others.
In division 2 one can see that the Division 99 team, a breeding ground for new or returning oldschool players, has gone from two to four teams. Another addition is the Outdated team consisting of old school players Norway Link, Sweden Sniket (from Clan 9) and the official inventor of the rocket boosted bunnyjump, Norway Sectopod, among others.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update (15 comments)
Posted by viaIImaximus @ 13:54 CST, 18 February 2016 - iMsg
After the winter update fiasco (R8 overpowered weapon), Valve has released a new and huge update. Even though the highlight of the 1.6 GB update is the new Operation Wildfire, there are some tweaks to a couple of maps, too. According to various sources the update is surprisingly well received so far.

For the full list of changes check the release notes.

EDIT: Valve released a new update 122 MB in size. Now dealing mostly with bug fixes.

Also note that ESL Pro League and ESEA have rescheduled some of their upcoming matches due to the update.
